Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has intensified manhunt for prisoners still on the run from two Correctional facilities; issuing stern warning to landlords in the State not to provide them accommodation in their houses.

The Governor said any landlord who violates this directive should be prepared to face prosecution.

Obaseki read the riot act when he received an eleven- man committee comprising different security agencies set up for re-arresting the escapees.

It will be recalled that suspected hoodlums had in the wake of #EndSARS protests invaded the maximum and medium Correctional Centres in Oko and Sapele roads in Benin city; and set free over 1000 inmates in October.

The Edo State Government has been making frantic efforts to get the escaped inmates back to the correctional facilities.

Chairman of the Committee on the re-arrest of the escapees, Deputy Controller of Corrections, Usifo Joseph informed Governor Obaseki about the progress made so far.

Governor Obaseki said his government will henceforth go tough against those who appear to be aiding the escapees from the law.

He added that residents should come forward with any information that will assist in getting the jail breakers off the streets.

The Governor said provision will be made for additional vehicles to assist the Committee to accomplish the task in good time; stressing that a website with details of the fleeing inmates will be launched soon for easy identification by members of the public.
