Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, have rescued two babies and five women from Kuyambana Forest in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

A statement by the Information Officer, OPHD Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, noted that the feat was recorded when the troops embarked on a daring operation, and successfully stormed Kuyambana Forest in Zamfara State, rescuing two babies and five women.

They were kidnapped in January 2024 from Marange Village in Kagara Local Government Area of Niger State, North Central Nigeria.

According to the victims, they were liberated, following the relentless offensive operations carried out by the vigilant troops in the Kuyambana General Area of Zamfara State.

The interception by the troops on March 13, marked the beginning of their journey to freedom.

Upon their rescue, the victims underwent debriefing and were later handed over to the relevant authorities for the necessary procedures, to reunite them with their families.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, lauded the tactical prowess and professionalism exhibited by the troops, during the rescue mission.

He commended their dedication, and urged them to maintain the momentum, until all criminal elements are eradicated and ensure the restoration of peace and normalcy in the region.
