Officers and men of Bayelsa State Police Command have been placed on red alert, to forestall incidents of crime during the Yuletide.
This is coming as the State Police Commissioner, Michael Okolie has issued a directive suspending all casual leave during the period.
This development was made known in a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Buswat in Yenagoa.
Consequently, Divisional Police Officers and Head of Departments, according to the PPRO, have been directed to rejig their strategy of crime-fighting while also enhancing the visibility of their officers and men to ensure a peaceful Yuletide celebration in the State.
In the same vein, the Command has repeated its ban on the use of fire-works, popularly known as “knockout”.
In this regard, parents and guardians have been advised to warn their wards to desist from using knockouts as officers will be out to arrest anyone flouting the order.

The Police Commissioner used the medium to assure members of the public of a peaceful festive season and enjoined all to cooperate with the Command to forestall any criminal incident.
