The Cross River State chicken processing factory, Calachika, has commenced the sale of fresh frozen chicken to the residents of the state at a subsidized rate.

Governor Ben Ayade, who was at the factory Wednesday on a facility tour, said he was impressed with the first batch of chicken being prepared for consumers for the yuletide.

Ayade said the state government will be making chicken available to every Cross Riverian through the state-owned poultry processing factory which takes live birds, processes, and delivers them to their shops and homes.

According to the Governor, the live processed chicken would be made available to interested Cross Riverians at a subsidized rate of 1,800 Naira instead of about Five thousand Naira for same in the open Market while the frozen chicken is sold for two thousand eight Hundred Naira.
