Subscribers call On NIMC to make the NIN registration process easier and faster

NIMC

Subscribers in Port Harcourt trying to register for their National Identification Numbers, NIN, have called on the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC to put modalities in place to give room for smooth registration rather than clustering people especially with the threat of a second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

Those who spoke to ait.live lamented the sufferings they are going through with the SIM registration and stressed the need to go digital.

The sim card subscribers with their National Identification Numbers, NIN were jostling for registrations but it appears the crowd has overwhelmed the management of the commission.

The people are not adhering to the Covid -19 protocols which is more worrisome especially with the spike of cases in the second wave.

The subscribers especially the aged ones are not finding the registration easy. According to them, they have been at the NIMC office for over two to three days without anyone attending to them.

They want the federal government to look for alternative means that will make it easier for them to register, adding that even with the three weeks extension for subscribers with NIN and the additional six weeks for subscribers without the NIN, it will not work out considering the crowd.

The NIMC form which was supposed to be free was alleged to being sold at fifty to hundred naira.

But when confronted ,the management of the commission refused to speak on the issue.

Although the NIMC SIM card registration is meant for the good of the nation , it is also important for those in charge to make it easy and safe for Nigerians .
