The Special Task Force deployed to restore law and order in the Plateau State, Bauchi and Southern Kaduna, Operation Safe Haven, OPSH on Wednesday night killed three armed men suspected to be bandits. The men were known to have been robbers who terrorise travellers along Mangu Road in Plateau State.
This is coming hours after the Department of State Services, DSS, raised alarm over security concerns, especially around rural communities in Riyom, Barkin-Ladi and Mangu LGAs.
The incident took place at about 11pm, opposite the Plateau State NYSC Orientation Camp in Mangu Local Government Area of the State.

A local who pleaded anonymity, told ait.live that at the time of the robbery, information got to the OPSH Sector Commander in Mangu and he quickly mobilised his men to the area in a private vehicle. On arriving the scene of the incident, the soldiers engaged the gang of robbers in a shootout and as a result, three of them were killed.
Some weapons were also recovered, while their corpses are said to be in the custody of Mangu Divisional Police Headquarters.
