The Federal Government has called on religious leaders to refrain from stoking the embers of hatred and disunity that could trigger negative consequences for the country.
The Minister of Informatuon and Culture, Lai Mohammed made the call in a press statement.
He said that religious leaders have a responsibility to speak truth to power, but must not be laced with religious and ethnic disharmony.

He noted that making calls for a violent overthrow of a democratically elected government at a season of peace is unfortunate.
The minister’s statement comes on the heels of a Christmas message delivered by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Kukah, where he accused the Buhari administration of promoting nepotism and institutionalising northern hegemony, while reducing other parts of the country to a Second Class Status.
