The Durumi camp of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in the Federal Capital Territory appeared quiet on Tuesday, after the Monday deadline for the planned demolition of IDP camps in the Nigerian capital city, Abuja.
Some of the Internally Displaced Persons who spoke to ait.live said they are yet to see bulldozers move to site inline with the deadline.
They confirmed that they were given deadline which started on Friday and ended on Monday.
The Coordinator of the Abuja IDPs said the issues of demolition have been resolved and discussions are ongoing on ways to address the challenge of IDPs in the Federal Capital Territory.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Benneth Igweh had confirmed that there were such plans to demolish the IDP camps in the Territory, adding that they constitute security risks to the peace of the Nigerian capital city.
He however said that such plans are yet to be activated by the Minister.
