Youths in Benue State have been challenged to work towards governing the State in the next dispensation.

The charge was given by the Former Chief Judge of the State, Justice Adam Onum in Makurdi, the State capital, while inaugurating youth groups, across the 23 local councils of the State to champion the course.

Justice Onum, said the youth group, Benue Rebirth Movement is expected to championed a power shift from Benue North, East, and West to the minority South.

He said, since creation of Benue State from then Benue/Plateau in 1976, Benue state has produced five elected governors all from the Tiv speaking Benue North East and West in the last forty four years, leaving the minority tribes in shadow of leadership.

Addressing the youth groups, a former Chief of Defense Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan called on youths from the Benue North East and West, the two Tiv speaking parts of the state to support Benue South for the position of governor in the interest of equity and justice.

One of the demands of Nigerian youths during the EndSARS protest, was youth inclusion in the governance structure, a call for justice and equity, which the Benue south is also agitating for.
