Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, has urged bandits in the State to lay down their arms and embrace the peace initiative by Governor Bello Mohammed.

He made the call during a meeting with traditional rulers from Talata Mafara and Maradun Local Governments Areas of the State, to discuss ways to end insecurity in the State.

The Zamfara State Commissioner of  Police, CP Abutu noted that his top priority is to find lasting solutions to the security challenges in the State.

He said it was against this backdrop that he has been visiting the various Local government Areas to meet with relevant stakeholders and brainstorm on how to convince the recalcitrant bandits to accept the peace deal and surrender their weapons.

CP Abutu Yaro said the security agencies will collaborate with traditional rulers and other stakeholders, to achieve a one hundred percent success of the peace initiative, to restore sanity in Zamfara State.

The Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran, decried drug abuse, as one of the major causes of the insecurity; emphasising the need for stakeholders to join hands to tackle the menace and rid the state of insecurity.

The Emir of Talata Mafara, Muhammad Bello, and that of Maradun Emirate,  Mohammed Tambari,  stressed the need to enlighten residents to support the government’s efforts to restore peace.
