Following a keenly contested election, Professor George Obiozo has emerged the new President General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo. He scored 304 being the highest number of valid votes to defeat five other contestants.
The election of a new Igbo leader held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Imo State.

Professor Obiozo is a former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States and one time Director-General Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA.
