Unfortunately, One Nigerian soldier lost his life while 2 others sustained injuries, during a clearance operation, at one of the bandits’ enclaves, around Maigora General Area, in Faskari Area Council of Katsina State.

The Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, who stated this said that , 2 bandits’ informants were also arrested.

According to him, the troop’s achievements were made possible with the support of the Nigeria Airforce Helicopter Gunship, which delivered lethal blows on the criminals, forcing the bandits to withdraw in disarray into the forest.

The army spokesman said that the successes recorded spanned through January 2 to 10 and attributed the feats to a high level of intelligence, gathered by the troops of Operation Sahel Sanity from the locals.

Onyeuko further said that, during the period 3 AK-47 rifles and 2 AK 47 Rifle magazines loaded with 18 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, were captured from the bandits.

One of the informants who was arrested with a newly acquired motorcycle, confessed that he bought the bike from the ransom bounty collected from a kidnapped victim.
