The 17 Tsagaya pupils and an elderly woman abducted from Gidan Bakuso in Gada local Government Area of Sokoto State, North-West Nigeria have been rescued in a forest in neighbouring Zamfara State.
Receiving the rescued victims at the Sokoto State Government, House, Governor Ahmad Aliyu said, the rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with the office of the National Security Adviser.

It would be recalled that in the early hours of Saturday, March 9 terrorists raided Gidan Bakuso, in the Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto state, and abducted 17 Almajiri children from a Tsagaya school. The terrorists also abducted a woman, four days later.
The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed that the terrorists contacted the teacher of the Tsagaya school demanding N20,000 million as ransom.
But 12 days later, all 18 abducted persons were rescued by security operatives and handed over to the Sokoto State Government which says it would rehabilitate and provide them with food items and money to help them settle back into society.
