Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman has revealed that no ransom was paid for the rescue of 137 school children abducted from Kuriga, on March 7, 2024 in Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria.
The Minister’s comment is comming amid unanswered questions over the release, recue or otherwise freed 137 Kuriga school children.
Professor Mamman was speaking in Abuja on Monday at the opening of a two-day capacity building programme for Education Ministry Departments, Parastatals, Tertiary Institutions, Schools and Colleges on the Implementation of the Ministerial Deliverables and Road Map for the Education Sector
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, represented at the event by Senior Education Officer, Ian Artfield, said Nigeria must make concerted efforts on safer schools to address the increasing learning crisis
A minute silence was observed for the teacher who died in the hands of the abductors.
