Seven bandits have repented and laid down their weapons to embrace the peace initiative instituted by Governor Bello Mohammed to broker peace between two warring factions in Zamfara State.
They have also vowed with the Holy Qua’ran never to return to commit the acts again, but will work with security agencies to get other bandits to accept the peace deal.
The seven repentant bandits surrendered 14 Ak 47 rifles and several live ammunition to the Zamfara State government as a result of the peace initiative with the bandits.
Receiving the repentant bandits, Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara State, expressed the hope that more bandits will lay down their arms in the coming days to embrace the peace dialogue.

He expressed optimism that the peace initiative is the only veritable strategy to put an end to the long years of violent conflicts in Zamfara State.
The Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran said the success was recorded due to the commitment of relevant stakeholders to the peace initiative.
The 14 Ak 47 rifles have been handed over to the police.
The event had in attendance, traditional rulers, religious leaders, heads of security agencies, Secretary to the Zamfara State government, some commissioners, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP State Executives, among others.
