Rives State Governor Nyesom Wike has described as false and malicious comments attributed to him in one of the Nigerian dailies.
Governor Wike was in the article published on Friday reported having said that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, cannot see the gate of the presidency in 2023,
But the Rivers State Governor in a statement denies making such comments. The Governor said he was in Adamawa State on Thursday to inspect projects being executed by Governor Umaru Fintiri.
And while inspecting the greater interchange and underpass in Yola, the Governor said he granted an interview to some journalists.
The questions asked ranged from the purpose of his visit, the prospects of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winning the 2023 general election and Nigeria’s rating in the global corruption index recently published by transparency international.
Governor Wike said that during the interview that lasted about five minutes, he did not at any time mention or refer to the names of Tinubu and former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
The Rivers State Governor said he considers the report in the Guardian newspaper as fabricated, malicious, and intended to inflame relationship between him and Tinubu, a man he holds in high esteem.
