Delta Army killings: Bayelsa State Govt wants Igbomotoru IDPs to return home

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has commended the military for demonstrating professionalism, during the invasion of Igbomotoru community and ensuring that innocent lives were not lost from the fallout of the killings of 17 officers and soldiers in Okuama community of Delta State, South-South Nigeria.

At 31st State Security Council meeting of his administration at the Government House, Yenagoa, the Governor declared that those who committed the dastardly act, and their sponsors must be caught and punished accordingly.

The recent killings of 17 officers and soldiers in Okuama which escalated to Igbomotoru community in Bayelsa was one of the main points of discussion at the meeting.

Governor Diri had already issued a statement, condemning the barbaric act emphasising that Bayelsa State remains a military friendly state and that the government will not relent in supporting the Armed Forces to maintain law and order.

On the invasion of Igbomotoru community, Diri wants the military to give room for civilian efforts in ensuring those trapped were made to return and normalcy restored.

The Governor also assured that the government will continue to have zero tolerance for crime and criminality in the state.
