The Governors of states controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are pushing for the decentralization of the Nigeria Police as the only solution to the growing insecurity in the country.
The opposition Governors led by its Chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, during a virtual meeting, expressed concern over the recruitment process, neutrality, and capacity of the current community policing system to serve the purpose envisaged under the new Police Act.

They are also optimistic that the newly appointed service chiefs will without delay get to work and ensure the growing insecurity in the country is doused urgently.
