Katsina Police kill notorious bandit, recover ammunition

Police in Katsina have succeeded in gunning down one suspected bandit and recovered one AK-47 rifle with seventeen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunitions..

The police also captured another AK 47 rifle with 2 magazines and 5 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunitions in another encounter.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Police Sanusi Buba and made available to AIT.

According to the statement, CP Buba said the feat was recorded in the early hours of February 17 at about 2:AM when suspected bandits numbering about 7 attacked a victim at Danmusa Town in Danmusa area council of the state.

The katsina police boss added that, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of the area upon receipt of a distress call swung into action which led to the team neutralizing one of the suspected bandits.

Similarly, the command also recorded another success same date in Kankara area council when the District Police Officer of Kankara Division and team on routine patrol along Zango – Pauwa villages, engaged suspected bandits in a gun duel.

The result, according CP Buba were the recovery of one AK 47 rifle, 2 Magazines and 5 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

The police boss therefore said, search parties are still combing the area with a view to arresting the injured bandits and/or recovery of their dead bodies while, investigations are ongoing into the 2 incidents.
