After an exhaustive deliberation by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum on the state of Insecurity in Nigeria, the Governors’ forum reached the following decisions.

The forum condemns ethnic profiling of crimes and criminality in the country.

The Governors want crimes and criminality prosecuted wherever they occur without ethnic or religious colouration.

The forum welcomed the appointment of the new service chiefs, and expressed hope that the new security architecture will emerge from the new leadership.

The Governors support the dedication of portion of excess crude account, natural resources development and stabilization fund to procure necessary equipment for the military and other security institutions to address immediately the impunity associated with all crimes and criminality.

The Governors expressed interest in strengthening the Judicial system to accelerate access to Justice for victims of crimes and criminality in the country.

The Forum demands the review of national livestock transformation programme, says traditional approach to grazing is no longer sustainable and that modern approaches to grazing and livestock management need to be put in place .

The Governors also oppose proliferation of fake news and abuse of social media.

In the same vein the forum highlights the importance of reviewing forestry management and environmental Laws.

The Governors equally express concern over the porous state of Nigeria’s borders and the importance of strengthening the provision of Ecowas trans-movement of protocols to address unbridled movements of cattles across the borders.

The Governors said porous borders are responsible for proliferation of light weapons and fire arms .

The NGF is therefore seeking synergy between mainstream security and state security institutions or local security arrangements emanating from the current security challenges.
