Hijab Crisis: Govt. shut down 10 affected schools in Ilorin

Following the crisis that recently broke out over wearing of hijab in some grant-aided schools in Ilorin, the Kwara State Government has directed immediate closure of ten affected schools in Ilorin the State capital pending the resolution of the hijab question in the schools

Speaking on the development, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye maintained that the closure of the schools was necessary in order to prevent further crisis

Some of the affected schools are St.Anthony’s Secondary School Offa road, Cherubim & Seraphim College Sabo-Oke, ECWA Secondary School Oja-Iya, Bishop Smith Secondary School Agba Dam road and others.

The Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye maintained that a committee has been put in place to look into the matter of wearing hijab in the affected schools

He however calls for calm and urges parents and religious leaders to avoid actions or comments that may split the two communities while the issue is being resolved

some of the affected schools were under lock and key while others are about sending their pupils back home.

It is hope that the committee put in place will carefully address the matter in order for peace to reign in the affected schools.
