Wike receives report of judicial inquiries into activities of SARS

Governor Of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has received the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry that looked into the activities of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS.

While receiving the report Wike expressed doubt over the sincerity of the Federal Government and Police to implement the recommendations by exposing their atrocities.

Chairman of the judicial commission of inquiry set up to investigate the brutality and human rights abuse perpetrated by operatives of the disbanded special anti-robbery squad sars in rivers state was full of appreciation to the Rivers State Governor for the Support.
 
Governor Wike was initially reluctant to set up the commission, but after much pressure, decided to have a change of heart
 
The Governor on the 24th of October 2020 inaugurated a nine-member panel headed by justice Chukwunenye Uriri handing them two months to carry out their assignment following an application for more time, the commission was granted an additional two weeks.
 
During its sitting, the commission says it received 190 petitions out of which 82 were struck out for different reasons.

Justice Uriri says the high number of petitions recorded during the sitting depicts a high degree of recklessness and total disregard for law and order by law enforcement agencies in Rivers State.
 
Thanking members of the commission for their work, Governor Nyesom Wike says he still has doubts about the sincerity of the Federal Government.

He is also accusing the Inspector General of Police of being partisan.
 
In spite of the perceived obstacles the Rivers State Governor has set up a committee headed by the Attorney General to immediately draw up a white paper for the state executive council to consider at its next meeting.
