The Managing Director of Kano Road Traffic Agency, KAROTA, Baffa Dan Agundi, has called for the ban of commercial tricycles in the state.

The ban according to the Managing Director, will ease traffic congestion and the incessant attacks on commuters in the state.

The call comes on the heels of a protest by tricycle riders in Kano, over the imposition of a daily hundred Naira levy.

The protests resulted in attacks on members of the Kano Road Traffic Agency, which left some persons injured.

Leaders of the tricycle riders said some of their members took the law into their hands to cause public disturbances and called on the members to be law-abiding and pay the daily levy, since an agreement has already been reached.

The Managing Director of Kano Road Traffic Agency, said, the daily levy was imposed in conformity with the constitution of the state and blamed the attacks on commuters and traffic congestion in the state on the activities of the commercial tricycle operators and insists they should be banned.
