Kogi Gov. Bello charges heads of tertiary institutions to combat cultism

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has charged the heads of the tertiary institutions in the State, to sustain the fight against cultism and other criminalities in their institutions.

Yahaya Bello gave the charge while swearing in the Heads of the institutions and governing council members, at the banquet hall, of the Lugard House in Lokoja.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment, to keep education on his priority list, noting that education remains the bedrock upon which other structures of developments are erected.

Yahaya Bello said that the developments tied to education, can only be possible in a learning environment that is cult-free and secured with a call on the new administrators to sustain the gains made so far.

The Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Usman Ogbo, whose appointment was confirmed alongside Professor Marietu Tenuche, the Vice-Chancellor of the Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, promised to sustain a cult free learning atmosphere.

The New Provost of the Kogi State College of Education Ankpa, Mohammed Ibrahim, also says he would focus on the entrepreneurial development of students in his institution.

The event also featured the swearing-in of the governing councils for all the state-owned tertiary institutions.

The council members were drawn from among the women in the State, while some of the Professors in the tertiary institutions, were appointed from outside the state.
