A 32 year old lady , Victories Chekwube, is in the protective custody of the Ebonyi State Police Command together with her four months old baby, following her alleged attempt to trade her baby for money.

Victories Chekwube, who couldn’t mention where she came from, told Journalists that she wanted to sell her baby for forty thousand Naira only, to enable her raise capital to start a beer parlour business.

She also confessed to being a commercial sex worker based in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, in the course of which she gave birth to her baby.

Giving more information on the development, the Ebonyi State Police PRO, DSP Loveth Odah, says every effort made to dissuade Chekwube from engaging in such transaction did not yield results, as she remained adamant, insisting that the safety of her baby can no longer be guaranteed by her.
