Some Labour Party groups, under the aegis of the 19 Northern Chairmen, Secretaries, and stakeholders of the Labour Party caucus, have declared that the recent National Convention of the party, in which Julius Abure was re-elected, is illegitimate, and does not reflect democratic principles.

They made this known in Bauchi during a press briefing, seeking the cancellation of the convention, and calling for the national leadership of the party to be zoned to the north.

The crisis within the Labour Party over leadership and alleged financial mismanagement, seems not yet over, following issues arising from the party.

This time around, another group claims membership of the party from the northern states, as chairmen and secretaries converged on Bauchi State to hold a press conference, insisting that there is no faction within the party.

They, however, condemn the recent party congress.

The group condemned what they described as  unwarranted attacks, launched by some members of the party against their principal, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 General Election.

It could be recalled that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, while answering questions from journalists in Bauchi on Sunday, insisted that he is not leaving the party, saying the crisis within the party will soon be resolve.
