The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has celebrated the former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbodiyan, the PDP described Obasanjo as a patriotic leader, global figure and an exceptional energetic administrator who has made immeasurable contributions both as a military leader and as a democratically elected president for the survival unity, stability and development of Nigeria.

The Party recalls the sacrifices of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a military leader which paved way for the return of democratic rule, birthing the second republic in 1979.

The PDP says it is glad that under the democratic administration of Obasanjo in 1999 through 2007, Nigeria witnessed a mirage of development in the private sector which includes telecommunications, aviation, banking and finance education, manufacturing, sports entertainment, real estate healthcare both at home and in the international arena.
