Proprietors of Christian Mission grant-aided schools in Kwara State have insisted that they will not allow wearing of hijab in all their three hundred and sixteen Christian schools across the State.

Speaking during a press briefing in Ilorin the State capital, President of Kwara Baptist Conference, Reverend Victor Dada maintained that it is unfortunate that Kwara State Government is yielding to the desire and threat of some Islamic fundamentalists to impose their religious code in their school two weeks ago, Kwara State Government shut down at least ten mission grant-aided Schools that have been existing for several decades in the State over hijab crisis in the affected schools to prevent further crisis.

The religious leaders also warned the State Government over its decision to impose hijab on mission grant-aided schools noting that it could lead to easy identification of terrorist target among the students demanding the full return of their schools in earnest.

Meanwhile the Muslim community in the State said they are not contending the name and uniform of the mission-grant-aided schools but are only agitating for similar respect bestowed on Catholic sisters for their female students.

However, the Christian Mission grant-aided schools have been directed to re-open on Monday 8th March 2021 but there’s uneasy calm about what may happen in the affected schools.
