The All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta state chapter, has withdrawn from the ongoing local government elections across the twenty-five local government councils in the state.
The party announced its withdrawal from the polls in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Sylvester Imonina, on Saturday.
The APC had accused the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and DSIEC, of depriving Deltans of their rights to choose who to lead them at the local level.
They alleged that as at 11am on Saturday, election materials that were purportedly transported to DSIEC offices at the local government areas and some police stations in parts of Delta central, were yet to be distributed, stressing that APC representatives were also not allowed to get the statistics of the materials which DSIEC transported.

The statement also stated, that APC members and Deltans, who believe in democratic tenets have been at different DSIEC offices and police stations, where election materials were supposedly kept, but nothing happened in those places.
The party however urges all members to remain calm and not resort to violence.
