Katsina police kill bandit, recover AK-47 riffle, live Ammunition

Police in Katsina State have Killed one of the bandits terrorizing the Safana Local Government Area and recovered an AK-47 rifle with two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

This is contained in a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isah.

According to the statement, a Police patrol team attached to Safana Division, had an encounter with bandits numbering about five, Armed with Ak-47 rifles.

Isaiah noted that the team engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel as a result of which one of the bandits was killed.

He said the command has also succeeded in arresting a notorious bandit and a member of the kidnap for ransom syndicate, a 35-year-old Lawal Umar, alias “Bammi” of Tsaskiya Village in Safana Area Council.

The statement further added that the suspect confessed to have participated in several attacks on villages in the Safana, Dutsinma, and Charanchi Area Councils of Katsina State.

The suspect confessed to have also participated in the recent kidnap of the Village Head of Radda, in the Charanchi Area Council, in which he received the sum of one million Naira, as his share of the ransom.
