Over 250 women have received charcoal stoves in Boto, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, from a Non-Governmental Organization, in commemoration of the International Women’s Day celebration.
According to them, the distribution is to reduce the scourge of environmental degradation in Nigeria, especially in the rural areas.
Oxfam, in partnership with the Canadian Government, was in Boto, to celebrate International Women’s Day as well as educate the women on the dangers of environmental degradation.

The Director of the Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs, Esther Patrick, encouraged the women on to participate actively in politics.

Statistics indicate that women still occupy only 24.9% of the national parliament globally.
