The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, on Friday swiftly countered the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, on a fuel price hike.

The NNPC on its official Twitter page insisted that there is no increase in the depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol).

According to the post: “NNPC insists no increase in Ex-Depot Price of PMS in March.”

The fuel pricing regulator, Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, had in a template released on its website on Thursday night
initiated an upward review of petrol price to oscillate between N209 to N212 per litre for the month of March.

This is against the N186 the crucial commodity retailed for in February.

The PPPRA said the landing cost of petrol in March would be N189.61 per litre as against N163.74 in February.

The NNPC dismissed the claim; insisting that there was no depot price increase.

In the same vein, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN said it has not receive any official communication on fuel price hike.

The Chairman of the Association, Kano State Branch, Bashir Ahmad Dan Malam, stated this while addressing journalists in Kano on Friday.

In the midst of the confusion, the PPPRA on Friday pulled down the template it had earlier hosted on its website showing the increase.

It has offered no reason for its action.
