The Benue State Government has vowed to no longer grant amnesty nor negotiate with criminals under any guise.

Governor Samuel Ortom made this known in Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, during the burial of slain elder brother to former Governor Gabriel Suswam,Terkura Suswam and his aide, Solomon Tarnor.

He said that government, through the state’s Security Council, had declared total war on the assailants and other criminal elements in both Sankera and other parts of the state, stressing that no matter how long it would take, they would be defeated.

Governor Ortom described late Suswam as a great man, who will ever be remembered for his legacies.

He pointed out that he died struggling to bring peace, prosperity and economic development to his community, Anyiin.

The Governor expressed fear that many people who have the capacity may not be willing to come back to the villages and do investment, for fear of the unknown.

He appealed however, that people should not be distracted by the unfortunate incident.

“You can see in Anyiin alone, we have Ashi Polytechnic, Ashi International Market, Micro Finance Bank, Rice Mill and these are the things that we are woeing investors to come and do, because government does not have the resources to do it alone,” he added.

He maintained that government does not have the capacity to do these alone, and Terkura Suswam saw it, but unfortunately, he had to meet his death right here in Anyiin, while struggling to work and add value to the economic development of the community.
