Teachers under the auspices of the Taraba Concerned Primary School Teachers have threatened to withdraw their membership from the NUT due to what they described as insensitivity to their plight.

They said the threat became necessary following 5 months of unpaid salary and attack on teachers by thugs which left two atleast 2 teachers injured during a prayer walk to the Nigeria Union of Teachers House in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

One of the leaders of the Taraba Concerned Primary School Teachers,Mohammed Lawan who spoke to ait.live said they were attacked at the entrance of the NUT Secretariat by thugs after locking the gates in what seems to be a sponsored attack.

Lawan added that the walk became necessary after repeated claims by the Taraba State Governor that he is not owing teachers any salary in the state.

Attempt to get the view of the Chairman of the NUT in Taraba State, Julius Peter, on the reason for the prayer walk and attack on the teachers proved abortive as he declined to talk to the press.

Meanwhile ,Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Leha Reform, has confirmed the incident.
