Canada High Commission pledges support to combat insecurity, GBV in Nigeria

The Canadian High Commission has pledged to support Nigeria in the fight against insecurity, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), in the northern part of the country.

The Acting Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Nicholas Simard, gave the pledge at the forum, aimed at promoting Child Rights Acts and ending Gender-based Violence in Kano State.

Gender-based Violence and Child Rights abuses and insecurity, have become a growing concern, among the general populace.

The need to therefore find a lasting solution to these activities, informed the visit of the Acting Canadian High Commissioner, Nicholas Simard to Kano, where he expressed the country’s readiness to partner in the fight.

Right Activist Hamzat Lawal, said that they will not relent in the fight against Gender-based Violence and the promotion of Child Rights Acts.

He commended the Canadian government, for joining in the fight , to end gender-based violence.

Also present, the Kano State Attorney General, Musa Lawal, said that the state is already to domesticate the Child Rights Act.

Panelists at the forum, want parents to take full responsibility for their children, and speak up against gender-based violence.
