Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed sadness over those expressing doubts that he was attacked by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen while on a visit to his farm on Saturday.
Governor Ortom made his feelings known to State House Correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said he has nothing to gain from claiming what did not happen and prayed his worst enemies do not pass through what he did.

He said he was at the Presidential Villa to commend the president for condemning the attack on his farm along Gboko road in the state. The governor appealed to Nigerians to deemphasize politics on the issue of security, saying all hands must be on deck to tackle the menace.
Ortom commended his fellow governors, for standing by him in the aftermath of the attack, insisting he has not done anything wrong in enacting a law beneficial to the people of the state.
The Benue Governor had on Saturday said gunmen, numbering about 15, trailed his convoy to the river bank where he was on foot with his security details and opened fire on them. President Buhari, on Sunday ordered security agencies to carry out what he called an “open and transparent” investigation into the attack.
