The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has appealed to the new Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Ibrahim Attahiru, to use his new appointment to restore the confidence of Nigerians in the Army; saying that the image of the once revered Army is now battered.
Governor Wike who on Tuesday, hosted Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, at the Government House Port Harcourt, wants the new Army Chief to refrain from being partisan and ensure that his officers and men concentrate on their mandate of protecting Nigerians from insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

Wike says his administration will stop at nothing to give the army, all the logistic support it requires to keep Nigeria peaceful, safe and united, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru was in Rivers State on a maiden operational visit, to all the units under the 6 Division of the Army

He’s also used the visit to express gratitude to the Rivers State Government for its continued support to the 6 Division
The CDS added that Officers and Men found engaging in nefarious activities will be flushed out of the Army.
