The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, grilled the management of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Lagos state, over an unauthorised spending of over 1,435 billion naira in 2018.
The Agency is also to explain how items said to be in the store amounting to 925. 96, naira, purchased by the staff of the Agency, or supplied by various contractors through contracts, could not be traced to the stores ledger.
The Lawmakers also queried the Agency for raising 45 payment vouchers amounting to over 1.63 billion naira without relevant supporting documents, such as letters of award, delivery note, and details of the cost attached in contravention of the provisions of extant laws and regulations.
The queries were brought against the Agency, by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation.

The Deputy General Manager in the Finance department of the Agency, Chima Nwaobilor, who led the NAMA team, explained that the items in the second query could not be found in the store by the team of the Auditor General because they were in their outstations, he also said that the Accountant General is aware of their operations.
The lawmakers were not satisfied with the answers and summoned the Accountant General, to give proper explanation.
The Committee also directed the Agency to make available all their Procurement records at their next appearance, to aid the Committee’s investigation.
