A group of angry women in Biseni Clan, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has denied members of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Oil Spill Clean up access to Oil facilities belonging to Nigeria Agip Oil Company in the community, protecting years of neglect.
The House of Representatives committee were on oversight to the State for a first hand assessment of the extent of damage caused by recent oil spill on oil producing communities.
For several hours, the placard-carrying protesters secured all access to the oil facilities; accusing the oil multinationals of neglecting them and conniving with Nigerian officials to impoverish them.
The federal lawmakers had earlier visited the Okordia/Rumekpe delivery pipeline in Ikarama community to see for themselves what was left after a massive oil spill on the 7th of March.
