Katsina

Katsina State Government has approved the deployment of dogs, to complement security arrangements to secure boarding schools in the state.

This is part of efforts to ensure safe and secured school environment.

The development was made known by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Badamasi Charanchi.

He says, the decision is to complement the efforts of security personnel attached to each of the boarding schools.

According to him, the state government was advised by security agencies in the state to deploy the dogs in each school, because they have special abilities to detect any intruder, faster than human beings, in many instances.

Charanchi added that the dogs, when deployed, will alert the students and other security agents, in case of any intruder.

He added that the move is aimed at strengthening the security architecture of schools in the state.

It would be recalled that Governor Aminu Masari, had reinforced the security architecture of the boarding schools, before reopening them.

They included, the deployment of five security guards, a perimeter fence erected with a security watchtower in the boarding schools, as well as the constitution of security committees.

The move is to avert any recurrence, as bandits invaded Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in December 2020, and abducted 344 students who were later rescued by security agencies, 6 days after the incident.
