“No retreat, no surrender” as JUSUN begins nationwide protest

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN on Monday commenced its nationwide protest over financial autonomy for the judiciary.

National Treasurer of the Union, Jimoh Musa-Alonge leading the protest said they will not back down on the strike and protest until their demands are met by the authorities.

The protesters converged on the gate of the Court of Appeal Complex in Abuja, with placards stating their demands.

JUSUN had on April 6 shutdown all courts activities in the country to protest against the non-compliance with constitutional provisions for financial autonomy of the state judiciary by Governors.

Apart from the demand of judicial autonomy, several issues were also raised among which is appointment of judicial officers.

Meanwhile, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA in solidarity protest to the National Assembly also want the strike to come to an end end.

Although they were denied access to the National Assembly Complex as at the time this report is been filed.

In Bayelsa State, the protesting judiciary workers were joined by members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN to block the entrance into the Government House in Yenagoa.
