The gates of all the campuses of the University of Jos were on Monday morning, barricaded by staff and students’ unions who were kicking against what they called, the hijacking of the new Vice-Chancellor selection process.
Students who are writing their examinations were stoped and turned back at the gate of the institution.

With the expiration of the five-year term of office of the current Vice chancellor, Sabastine Maimako, a selection board for a new vice chancellor was set up and commenced work, but as the process was going on smoothly , a directive allegedly from the national university commission suspended it.
This directive from the national university commission however didn’t go down well with the unions of the institution who are sensing foul play.
The aggrived unions called on the federal government to quickly intervene to avert a major crisis in the institution.
As of the time of filling this report the gates of the institution were still locked with staff and students bearing placards and chanting slogans.
