Reactions are trailing recent attacks by unknown gunmen on security personnel and facilities in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, which left casualties on the side of the operatives especially, the Police.
Residents are worried about Monday’s brazen attack on the Zone 13 Police Command headquarters, Ukpo in Dunukofia council area of Anambra State, as they call for urgent government action to end the invasion.
Some residents who spoke to AIT in Awka, the Anambra State capital on the latest attack expressed worry at the high rate at which unknown gunmen have in recent times overrun security operatives and facilities in parts of the country.

They are concerned that, if those who are constitutionally responsible and equipped to provide security for the ordinary citizens are not safe, then such portends grave danger for the generality of the public.
The respondents want urgent government interventions to forestall future occurrence of such seemingly well coordinated attacks, demanding for what they call a “complete overhaul” of the country’s security architecture, as a way forward
The Zone 13 Police command in the wake of Monday’s attack says its operatives stopped the gunmen from gaining access to the armory.
A statement by the Command’s PPRO, DSP Nkiruka Nwode confirmed that one of the suspected attackers was neutralized during the exchange of gunfire, while many of the gang members may have escaped with gunshot injuries.
The Police lists; One General-Purpose Machine Gun, Ninety-two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one locally-made smoke pistol, among other items, as recovered from the gunmen.
The statement adds that two police operatives who sustained gunshot injuries are currently receiving treatments at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
