In an effort to enhance voter participation in the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, plans to expand polling units in Cross River State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Cross River State, Emmanuel Hart, disclosed this in a statement issued in Calabar, the state capital, after a workshop organized for electoral officers on the expansion of voter access to polling units.

Hart hoped that the policy would bring to an end the challenges currently experienced in the electoral processes such as overcrowding, long queues, and election-related violence.
According to the REC, the expansion of the polling units programme, which is meant to convert the existing voting points in the country to full-fledged polling units, will enhance voter participation, apathy, among the electorate.
