The United States has warned its citizens against travelling to some parts of Northern Nigeria.

In a statement in the U.S. travel website, the U.S. announced that Borno, Yobe, and northern Adamawa States should be avoided due to terrorism and kidnapping.

The breakdown also shows that Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Zamfara states should be avoided due to kidnapping.

Coastal states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, and Rivers states (with the exception of Port Harcourt) should be avoided due to kidnapping, and maritime crime, the statement added.

The United States also added that Kidnappings for ransom occur frequently, often targeting dual national who has returned to Nigeria for a visit, as well as U.S. citizens with perceived wealth.

The U.S. government also warned that it has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Nigeria due to security conditions.
