Katsina Police arrest notorious ex-convict in Daura Local Government Area

Police in Katsina State say they have arrested a suspected notorious criminal and ex-convict.

He was caught with two hundred and seventy-three handsets, worth fifteen million Naira, in Daura Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesman in the state, Gambo Isah, in a statement, gave the details of the suspect as, a 23-year-old, Ibrahim Lawal, also known as ‘Abba Kala’, a resident of Fege Quarters, of Daura Local Government Area.

According to Isah, the suspect is a notorious thief and ex-convict, a habitual criminal, who specializes in housebreaking and theft of motorcycles.

The statement added that nemesis caught up with the suspect, when he trespassed into the house of one 33year old Kamalu Ibrahim, of Shagari Low Cost, Daura, and broke into his motor vehicle, stealing two hundred and seventy-three handsets, valued at fifteen million Naira.

Isah further said, all the handsets were recovered from him, during a police search.

Similarly, a joint operation, led by the police and vigilante group, has also recovered one hundred and ninety-four rustled animals, at Aidun Dudu village, of Danmusa Local Government Area.

The police said, the area is a cattle route, exiting into Rugu Forest, which was blocked, as a result of the intelligence gathered, over a suspected group of bandits, who were escaping from the ongoing military onslaught, with the rustled domestic animals.

Isah added that, the team engaged the fleeing bandits in a fierce gun duel, which resulted in the bandits fleeing and abandoning the rustled animals.

He added that, in the course of scanning the scene, the team recovered one hundred and fifty-three cows, and forty-one sheep, and believed that many of the bandits, escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.
