The world’s fourth richest man and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda have announced their divorce after 27 years of marriage.
In a tweet, Gates said the decision to end the marriage was a joint one as “we believe we can no longer grow as a couple”.

They have three children together, and jointly run the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has poured billions of dollars into developmental projects in developing countries.
They had met when Melinda worked in Microsoft, and have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.
