The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has enjoined residents to rise up to the occasion and defend themselves against every form of attack; using any legal weapon at their disposal.
Ortom who made the call in Makurdi the state capital insisted that the days of running helter- skelter and being intimidated have passed.
He said when he spoke truth to power, it was not meant to vilify President Muhammadu Buhari as some persons misconstrued it; but to draw his attention to the real situation the country is going through under his watch.
The Governor said just as he owns up to the challenges the people of Benue throw at his administration, President Buhari should take full responsibility of the insecurity, criminality and other forms of injustices being perpetrated in the country.

Renowed cleric, Isa El-Buba who pledged the support of the Church to the fight against injustice in the country, said it was high time men of good conscience like Governor Ortom came out to salvage the country.
He noted that when leaders are silent over an abomination like the current insecurity, it means they were party to it; pointing out that men of good conscience should pull their energies together to put the country back on track.
According to the Cleric, salvaging Nigeria will be done not through prayers alone but politically as well; adding that those who occupy leadership positions must be trustworthy and ready to serve the people.
