Gunmen attack Ini Police Station

Unidentified gun men have attacked the divisional Police Station in Ini local government area of Akwa Ibom state in the early hours of Saturday May 8, 2021.

Unconfirmed reports say about six police men died in the attack while cars and parts of the building were set ablaze.

The state police command is yet to issue a statement on the attack and its spokeman, SP Odiko MacDon is yet to comment on the incident as he is unreachable at the time of this report.

According to a source, the chairman of the LGA, Israel Idaism blames the proscribed IPOB for the attack.

This is the fourth police station in Akwa Ibom state to be attacked. Others are Ika, Essien Udim and Ikono divisional police stations.
