Taraba

Three rural secondary schools in Taraba State have benefitted from a water project and donation of other hygiene items by the Victims Support Fund.

The initiative is aimed at keeping the students safe in schools and slow down the spread of Covid-19.

AIT visited one of the benefitting schools, Government Commercial Secondary School Takum, Taraba State.

Takum has in the last two decades been a hotbed of bloodied communal clashes, harsh weather conditions and lately Covid-19 lockdown.

With less than a population of 200 students, Government Commercial Secondary School, Takum is in dire need of rehabilitation.

The establishment of a 4000-litre solar-powered borehole by the Victims Support Fund (VSF) in the school came as a huge relief.

The Fund also donated hand sanitisers, hand washing machines, and face masks to help the students and staff adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Innocent Vakkai, charged the residents to protect the project.

Taraba is one of the 3 states in the Northeast to benefit from the Victims Support Fund Project.
